About me

I am quite human. In my life I have experienced depression and bliss. I have been rich, poor, thin, fat, happy and sad and have continually sought ways to make my life happier and find inner peace. These posts are my part of my continual search within and without.

My vision is to improve the quality of others’ lives (make you happier) by giving you ‘fresh eyes’ with which to interpret and therefore navigate what life throws at us. By examining the wisdom behind the quotes of the masters, and adding my personal interpretation, anecdotes and experiences I hope I can offer new ways of seeing life which will create healthier minds and outlooks. If I can make one person happier as a result, it will be worth it!

Reading one or two ‘self-help’ books cannot change a lifetime of negative (fearful, parental) messages, unhealthy attitudes and the inner critic. It’s like working out once and expecting to be fit for the rest of our lives! By taking 10 minutes or so each day to read these, you (and I) are exercising our minds in order to make them healthy, positive and happier. We are reminding ourselves of what’s important. Hopefully some quotes and interpretations will really make sense and stick with us. Over time there may even be a gradual shift to joy.

My mission is to create a tribe of like-minded people, open to learning and maturing, who connect with other subscribers and contribute comments and advice. The positive energy and healthy attitudes will help to rub off on each other and improve the quality of lives by rubbing off on those we love also. I can’t do it without you.

  1. We kind of got the same goals and attitudes. Good to know there are more people thinking and acting this way.

    • We certainly do! It’s so good to find ‘my tribe’ finally. Thanks for being part of it Richard. I just love bloggers. Such open, genuine, trusting people! I can see that describes you too!

      • That’s charming. Thanks for Yours!
I’ve “met” a few and favorate bloggers when I was looking for the word “Krishnamurti”. I’ve improved being completely honest even if it hurts sometimes.

        Thanks, Richard

  2. It’s nice to find people who want to encourage others to think more openly, and to find friends of similar mind-sets. You’ve got some nice objectives for your blog site. Good luck.

  3. Thanks Yaz. The connection is everything to me I realise. And I feel I have found it already. I have such love for the world and the people in it these days, starting with the bloggers. And you have such depth and wisdom in your posts. So heartfelt. xx

    • Excellent! Then you must be like-minded. I loved in your avatar you wrote – ‘a writer can’t be stopped to write’ – so true. And it took me 46 years to realise and accept that I am a writer. I never stopped writing – lists, summaries of books, ideas, diaries, newsletters for work. It all counts. I look forward to your screenplay. It’s in there and it will come out. Guaranteed πŸ™‚

      • awwwww thank you very much πŸ™‚ you’re more experienced and wiser than me but screenplay will never come out until I’m in Pakistan so this is why I stopped. Thanks again for your time and concern πŸ™‚

    • Goodness. I am just so grateful for all you amazing people out there that I am meeting, yes meeting. Extreme joy is now!! ‘Have’ is not the right word. Welcome with open arms Diane!

  4. Hi Emma! I wanted to comment on your post about offending people, but I couldn’t find the comment box. Is it just my computer? (Wow; this sounds like spam) I just wanted to let you know that your post are really encouraging. I feel they’re going to help me in the search for my true self so thanks. πŸ™‚

    • I am not too good on WordPress, sorry but I am so glad that you wrote. Thanks a million!! It means so much to me! I feel the same about other blogs that I read. We should give ourselves credit for looking for answers and being open to opinions that in the past might have offended us. Then we can see how far we have come. I hope I am not a case of ‘the blind leading the blind’. You rock!!

    • Hi Liv,
Thank you so much. I am really honoured. I shall try and accept the award properly when I can and I will go and learn more about you right now. Look out for comments on your blog πŸ™‚

      • You are so welcome. I sincerely enjoy reading your blog. I know the process for accepting the nomination is pretty long but it turned out to be really fun and insightful, so i hope you get a chance to do it. Best of luck to you!!

  5. I am not really good at these things and I know they are time consuming but I couldn’t leave YOU out since I was taking the time to give the AWARD… so just know it is because you havve touched me… Don’t fret if you don’t have time… I just wanted to recognize you as one of my friends!
    xoxo

  7. Congratulations Emma on your Sunshine Award nomination by Diane at http://www.coastalmom.com. I peaked around at some of your stories and have to say I love the brilliance and intellect with which you write and the variety. I can see why Diane is inspired by you.

    • Wow, I am so touched. Thank you!!! Lucky Di to have you as a follower. She is such a sweetie that she attracts lovely people like you. I am honoured that you enjoyed some of my outpourings. Time to get back on the horse more regularly. I am always happier when I blog because I have to go within and step out of life’s crazy flow. Hugs to you Pat. Xx

      • You’re welcome Emma and I get it when you say writing/blogging takes us out of the crazy flow and allows us time to go within (that’s where the good stuff is). πŸ™‚

  8. What does information create? An abundance of information creates a poverty of attention… I think you have found the place to share … The names and faces I see here are some of the bet in the world I have found and who have found me … Nice to meet you … -gfs

    • Nice to meet you too! Yes there is a lovely bunch of bloggers whom I have felt privileged to ‘meet’ and I loved your comment on Diane’s blog. Couldn’t had said it better myself. Glad to have found you gfs πŸ™‚

    • Hiya! I’ve been through a bit of a rough time but it’s starting to come good now thanks. And thanks for your request to access this site when I made it private! Sorry I couldn’t comply. Hope all is well in your world? Haven’t read many blogs of late except Copyblogger!

      • Its okay I’m just glad that you are doing well ! I missed you that is all. You are one of the first people who supported me and helped me in my blog and I’ll be always ever grateful to you for that πŸ™‚ ❀
And I went on hiatus for two months due to rough time as well but hopefully now I'm back for good ! Hope to see you back soon πŸ™‚

        • Oh thank you SO MUCH for that you dear girl. Sorry to hear about your rough time. I guess we all have them. It’s how we respond and it sounds like you picked yourself up pretty quickly. Glad you are back. I didn’t even read any blogs for months. I miss you all. Just now I am starting a new career so I am flat out but I hope to get back to it, especially with your encouragement. I am glad I could be of help in your early days. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

          • It was my pleasure Emma. I hope your new job is going well and I hope you flourish in it !
We’ll always be right here waiting for you whenever you decide to return πŸ™‚
Wishing you good luck with everything in life ! ❀

    • Hi Pat!
I was just thinking this morning about how much I miss blogging and most of all, all the lovely people out there and here you are!! Thank you so much for the award. I will go and check it out and see what you are up to πŸ™‚

      • You’re welcome, Emma. I know what you mean about blogging. It’s been hit and miss for me and I’ve been away for awhile myself. For some reason, it’s been harder to blog this summer but when I get down to it I really enjoy it. Hope to see you back and hear what you’ve been up to. πŸ™‚

        • Gosh that’s a tricky one – what I’ve been up to. Check out my new business http://www.joyincontent.com.au and you will see! I am now self employed as a copywriter, hence not having time to write here. It’s a lot of work to get a business up and running but I am loving all the learning, reading and studying. Wish me luck! I hope you’ve enjoyed your ‘time off’ (I see it was the past month) but why not make the most of Summer anyway?

  9. I love your writing about Barbara Sher. I’ve read several of her books and began to write one in her Write Speak class but unfortunately she does before we got going. I’ve always found her right on target but not taken that many of her recommended actions. How was the retreat?

    • Sorry for the delay. I don’t blog anymore obviously πŸ™ƒ. Oh the retreat (in 2013) was just fabulous! Barbara was the best! It was more about healing ourselves than I thought (like therapy). I wanted to know what job I could be good at (aged 47!) All she said was that I had too many talents but I came across as a story teller. I am so so sad she died. I just loved her and it was worth every penny to fly from Australia to France just to meet her. Amazing woman. RIP.
